YOAKUM: John William Bitterly, 93, joined his heavenly family Sunday, January 7, 2018. He was born August 15, 1924 in Arneckville to the late Charles and Julia (Braden) Bitterly.
He was a farmer rancher and a humble servant in life with his duties in St. Ann Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
Survivors are his nieces and nephews, Pat Clarke (Debi), Michael Clarke (Georgia), John Clarke (Vicki), Marie Rangnow (Tim), Teresa Herman (Mike), Tim Clarke (Laura), Gerald Bitterly (Flavia), Charlie Bitterly (Michelle), Catherine Celauro (Paul), Charlotte Shodrock, (David), Ronnie Bitterly (Laura), Cindy Childree (Michael), Rose Bitterly and Sylvia Bitterly.
Preceded in death by this parents; sister, Lucille Clarke; brothers, Donald Bitterly and Charles (C.B.) Bitterly; nephews, Joe Bitterly and Larry Bitterly.
Visitation 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Yoakum with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Burial to follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tim Rangnow, Gerald Bitterly, Ronnie Bitterly, Charlie Bitterly, Pat Clarke, Tim Clarke, John Clarke and Mike Clarke.
Honorary Pallbearers are Knights of Columbus.
Memorials may be given to St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic School or Knights of Columbus.
