~Mary DeBord~VICTORIA: Mary DeBord, 88, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025. She was born July 18, 1936 in Benton, Arkansas to the late Johnny and Cathie (Wheeler) Smith. Mary was a quiet humble person who enjoyed her “simple” life with her family. She was a seamstress, was crafty and blessed each of her grandchildren with a handmade quilt. She was a “Nanny” to her grandchildren and leaves a legacy of love to all of them. Survivors are her daughters; Joyce Ann DeBord of Victoria, Nora Singer (Eddie) of Victoria and Mary Jean Pipher (Luther) of Crawford, CO.; son, Henry Sims DeBord III (Lisa) of Santa Fe, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Thelma Skaines of Hallettsville; numerous extended family. Preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Loraine Smith, Betty Wilmoth, Clare Chamblee and Lilly Smith; 5 brothers, Leroy, Johnny, Scottie, Cotton and Billy Smith. Funeral Service 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Pastors Johnny and Gloria Alaniz officiating. Burial to follow at Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons: Justin Pesch and Kade DeBord; and great grandsons: Devon DeBord, Avery DeBord, Torin DeBord, and Caleb Pesch. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
