~Philip Ford~YOAKUM: Philip Enouch Ford, 97, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was born October 6, 1927 in Beeville to William and Leoma (Williams) Ford. The Ford family returned to Yoakum when Philip, the youngest of the four children, was very young and he lived the remainder of his life on the homestead near Pilot Grove. He graduated from Yoakum High School in 1945 and went to work delivering oil and gas, then hired on with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was drafted into the US Army in 1950 and was deployed to Korea, 40th Infantry, Signal Company stringing telephone lines. He returned as an employee of Southwestern Bell for the next 40 years. He once said he had been in every house in the surrounding three counties installing phones. He married Eula Mae Hogan June 20, 1954, and together they raised three children, John, Phylis and Connie. They enjoyed 64 years together until her death in 2018. He enjoyed his life, his family, his land, his cattle and all of his dogs. Survivors are his daughters, Connie Ford of Austin and Phylis Johnson (John) of Yoakum; son, John Ford (Susan) of Alaska; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Leoma Ford; wife, Eula Mae Ford; son-in-law, Ed Rogers; sister, Mildred Draper; brothers, Stanley Ford, and Walker Ford. Graveside Service 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2024 at Pilot Grove Cemetery with Andrea Brooks officiating and music by Rhyliegh Johnson. Memorials may be given to Pilot Grove Cemetery Association.
