~Sue Hartnett~

 YOAKUM: Clara Sue Hartnett, age 89, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, with her family at her side.  She was born August 23, 1935 in Belton, Texas to R.D. and Grace (Selby) Jones.

Sue married the love of her life, Cliff Hartnett at the First Baptist Church in Marlin, Texas. They were married exactly 69 years, on the day of her passing. Before she and Cliff met, Sue worked at the the VA Hospital in Marlin. Sue and Cliff moved to various locations throughout Texas, but eventually settled in Yoakum in 1975, where she enjoyed being a homemaker and loving mother to 3 children, Gary, Larry and Tammy. Sue was a beautiful woman with a sweet smile that would light up a room. She was a patient and kind soul, who had a love for butterflies (any and all things butterfly), watching hummingbirds at her feeder, and working in her flower beds. Sue was a devoted wife and mother and was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who they called Granny. Sue took great joy in all her children and grandchildren as she watched with admiration as they grew and flourished over the years. She was loved and adored by all her family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors are her husband of 69 years, Cliff Hartnett of Yoakum; son , Larry Hartnett (Lynn) of The Woodlands; daughter, Tammy Morrow (Covey) of Yoakum; grandchildren, Cara Adolph (Chris), Whitney Lewis, Marshall Wilkerson (Sara), Derek Hartnett, John Hartnett (Jessica), Courtney Hartnett, Kristin Gunasekara (Umesh), Covey Morrow IV (Melissa), Casey Morrow (Sandy), and Bryan Hartnett; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell Jones of Temple.

Preceded in death by her parents, R.D. and Grace Jones; son, Gary Hartnett; great-granddaughter, Faith Marie Morrow;  sisters, Fredia Hossfeld and Marcie Elliott.

Pallbearers are Bryan Hartnett, Derek Hartnett, John Hartnett, Casey Morrow, Covey Morrow III, and Covey Morrow IV.

Visitation 9 a.m. with Funeral Service at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel McFarland officiating. Burial to follow at Yoakum Oak Grove Cemetery..

Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or Donor’s Choice.
