~Leon Honc~
YOAKUM: Leon Jerry Honc, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024. He was born December 9, 1937 in Yoakum to Jerry and Annie Sassin Honc. He retired as a supervisor at Circle Y where he worked over 25 years. He was a mechanic at Zaruba Chevrolet before he went to work for Circle Y. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Yoakum Volunteer Fire Department after many years of service. He coached little league and was an umpire for 57 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball and golf. Survivors: wife of 65 years, Arlene Ward Honc; daughters, Sandy Honc and Brenda Bohm (Terry); sons, Daryl Honc and Dwayne Honc (Wendy); grandchildren, Alex Bohm, Trisha Honc, Kaylee Honc, Saeger Bohm, Mason Schoonover and Kelsey Schoonover and four great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Maresh (Larry); family friend, Cindy Quintanilla along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Debbie Honc. Rosary 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic School Endowment Fund, on line giving- (stjcatholicchurch.com).
