BOLING: Dorothy Kahanek Keton, 82, formerly of Wharton, passed away November 4, 2017, at her residence following a short illness. She was born on October 22, 1935, in Yoakum, to the late Lee and Pearl Harrell Kahanek.
Dorothy was raised in Yoakum and graduated from Yoakum High School and later attended Wharton County Junior College. She was a realtor in Wharton in the 1980's. Dorothy was well known for her creativity and enjoyed gardening, home improvements, painting, sewing and decorating. Never one to sit still, she could be found many days outside, mowing her yard, tending her flowers, or even tiling the entryway in her new home. The folks at Home Depot knew her and her dog Precious by name.
In addidtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tyra Demasi in 2012; son, Terry Lee Keton in 1986; and brother, Lee Kahanek in 2000.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters; Tamie Joeckel of Richmond, Trena Anderson and husband Danny of Pattison, and Tyana Archer and husband Keith of Boling; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A brief outside service will be held in Yoakum at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the pavilion (by the fountain). She will be buried next to her son and brother.
