YOAKUM: Donald Ray Koranek, age 84, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family Friday, May 10, 2019.
Mr. Koranek was born February 24, 1935 in Gonzales, TX. to the late Rudolph T. and Carrie Polasek Koranek.
Mr. Koranek and his family lived in San Antonio working as a master plumber for 35 years then for the last 11 years of his working career he was an Albertson's store manager. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus before his health starting failing. He greatly enjoyed fishing, gardening and caring for all of his farm animals. He was a very strong-willed and independent man, and was always a very good provider for his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Mae Brunkenhoefer Koranek; daughter Katheryn Ann Koranek both of Yoakum; son and daughter-in-law, Brian Keith and Jan M. Koranek of Denham Springs, La.; sister, Sylvia Barnick of Gonzalez, TX, along with (6) Grandchildren and (15) Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm. Monday May 13, 2019 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral service at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, with Chaplain Stan Puryear officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
