~Craig Seekamp~
YOAKUM: Craig Morgan Seekamp, Sr., a life-long resident of Yoakum died unexpectedly on December 28, 2024 at the age of 71. Craig was born on October 12, 1953 to Charles and Joyce (Kopecky) Seekamp. He graduated from Yoakum High School in 1971. He married Helen on January 9, 1982. They were devoted partners for almost 43 years. He continued in the family tradition of construction and heavy equipment operation, opening his own business, TRAX services in 1977. He later started a GPS seismographic survey business in 2001 operating in various states. In the 90s, he enjoyed acting at the Gaslight Theater in Shiner, and more recently, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and being an active and knowledgeable contributor to the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owner’s Club. He maintained and ran his vintage 1961 Caterpillar D6B bulldozer. Above all, Craig was an exceptional story-teller and the repository and steward of Texas history and family lore. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community. Craig is survived by his wife, Helen Seekamp (née John); his sons, David Shelton Buenger and wife Trina of Victoria, Morgan and wife Angie of Celina, and Trevor and wife Stormy of Sweet Home; and his grandchildren, Mason Buenger, June, Walter, George, Rose, and Albert Seekamp, and his brother John Seekamp and wife Jean of Corpus Christi. He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Charles and Joe Seekamp. Visitation 5-7 pm Thursday, January 2nd at Thiele-Cooper Funeral home. Funeral Service 10 am , January 3rd, 2025 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with burial to follow at Alexander Cemetery. Deacon Leo Sharon will officiate. Pall bears are Dino John, Philip John, Patrick Gordon, Raymond Ruiz, Randall Ruiz, Nick Seekamp and Jeremiah John. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made in Craig’s memory to Yoakum Heritage Museum, 312 Simpson, Yoakum or the Alexander Cemetery Association, 1156 Hickey Rd, Yoakum.
