YOAKUM: Margie Joy Shindler, age 86, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024. She was born July 16,1938 in Yoakum to Ernest Taylor and Bonnie Birdwell Gibson. She retired as an underwriter from Hochheim Prairie Insurance after 24 years. She was a member of Austin Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, gardening, helping others and volunteering at the Yoakum Food Pantry. She truly had a servant's heart. Survivors: daughter, Jane Menke (Alan); sons, James Louis Taylor (Dolores), Jeffrey Eugene Taylor (Brandi) and Jerry Boyd Taylor (LeeAnn); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Counts; brothers, E.T. Gibson and John Henry Gibson. Preceded in death: parents, husband, Lester Shindler; son, John Robert Taylor; grandchildren, Katelyn Taylor and Day'Shawn Michael Menke sisters, Etta Jo Carpenter and Charlene Ennis. Visitation 8:30 till 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Austin Street Baptist Church with Pastor Elvis Whaley and Pastor Dale Turner officiating. Burial Yoakum Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers: Randy Taylor, Max Taylor, Garrett Taylor, Logan Taylor, Cole Taylor and Bentley Taylor. Honorary pallbearers: Benjamin Menke, Zachary Doyle, Jase Taylor, Wyatt Styra and Asher Styra. Granddaughters: Sarah Cantu, Abigail Menke, Ashley Doyle, Jill Styra, Haley Roberts and Hallie Taylor.
