Shiner: Louis Spann, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. He was born December 6, 1934 in Shiner into a family of 7 children, born to the late Frank and Lillie Vincik Spann.
He married Helen Nevlud October 14, 1967. He was a welder, retired from Kaspar Wire Works and devoted his retirement time to working at Shiner Senior Citizens. He was a simple, generous gentle man who enjoyed the bus rides to Coushatta with friends, but his greatest love was his two granddaughters.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Helen Nevlud Spann of Shiner; daughter Cheryl Schacherl and husband Brent of Georgetown; granddaughters, Madison and Mallory Schacherl.
Preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Denise Renee; 2 sisters, Lillie Steinocher and Alice Mueck; 4 brothers, Frank Jr., Emil, Otto and Albert Spann; Beloved Mother and Father-in-law, Louis and Rosie Nevlud.
Rosary 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Burial to follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Shiner Convent Restoration Fund.
