~Big Jim Wauson~YOAKUM: James Gilbert Wauson Jr., 69 of Yoakum passed away October 11, 2024 in Yoakum after a lengthy illness. He was born November 29, 1954, the only child born to James and Joyce (Sheffield) Wauson. “Big Jim” as most people called him, was a great storyteller and when the conversation started, it could easily last an hour or more. Without fail, by the end of the stories, he would have you laughing to tears. He was never in shortage for sayings and one of his favorite was, “They got me in a 9-line bind” which came from his days in the oilfield. He would often reminisce with a smile on his face about the locations he worked on and the antics he and his hands would do. He was surpassed by no one when it came to Freedom, our Bill of Rights, and when you looked at the screen on his cell phone a picture of the American Flag in the shape of a Bald Eagle in flight with the words “God Bless America” proudly displayed. He often passionately spoke of politics and the upcoming election. As one of his cousins stated, he is in Heaven with a big smile on his face. Big Jim was a connoisseur of fine foods and absolutely loved the BBQ lamb ribs prepared by Gonzales Meat Market. He was also a fan of BBQ from Luling City Market and would often brag about his culinary masterpieces preparing wild game while working in the oil field. Big Jim was one of a kind and he will be truly missed by those who were blessed to know him. Memorial Service to be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Pavilion with Deacon Dennis Kutach officiating. Big Jim will be put to rest next to his parents in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, 361-293-5656. |
